If flying free, working 12-15 days a month or spending the night in Paris, Buenos Aires or Barbados sounds like fun, then becoming a flight attendant could definitely be for you!

If you are a first-time job seeker, a retired person looking for a second career, an "empty nester" seeking a challenge, a former flight attendant who wants to get back into the air, or a seasoned professional desiring a career change, you're in good company. Most people who become flight attendants are in one of those categories.

Ten Reasons to be a Flight Attendant

  • Enjoy a great deal of time off (13 to 17 days off per month; roughly 6 months off per year!).
  • Get free or reduced-cost travel benefits for yourself and immediate family, covering air travel, lodging, car-rentals, and cruises.
  • Get a lucrative benefits package, often including health and life insurance, credit union membership, employee stock options, and a 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Enjoy unmatched variety - Forget the predictability of 9 to 5 cube life!
  • Enjoy maximum scheduling flexibility - You're not limited to weekends off like the rest of the world!
  • Meet new people, including many celebrities.
  • See the world.
  • Feel more independent.
  • Feel more responsible.
  • Feel a sense of pride and accomplishment (especially when you help an unaccompanied minor or handicapped passenger safely reach their destination).

  • 50% are married
  • Over one-third have a college degree (although only a high school diploma is required)

I'd like to tell you a bit about what we do at AirlineCareer.com.

Quite simply, we are an award winning computer-based flight attendant career website. Our comprehensive online training program is conducted completely on your own computer. There are no classes to attend, and no fixed schedule. Many of our members have successfully completed the program in one or two months while others have earned their Certificate of Achievement in just a few weeks.

During your membership period, we will show you everything you need to know about
becoming a flight attendant.

Our cutting edge computer-based training will lead you step-by-step through the evaluation and application process and show you:

  • How to decide if a flight attendant career is for you
  • How much you will earn
  • How much you will work
  • How to find out which airlines are hiring
  • How to pick the airline that is right for you
  • How to write a resume in the format that airlines want

One of the best features of our program is the Interview Profile section. Before your airline interview date, you can go to the interview profile "prep" area to find the specific

You'll learn about the interview format, interview length, number of interviewers and even the questions you'll be asked during the interview.

Right now, we have over 375 interview profiles for 44 airlines. It's one of the most effective ways for you to prepare for your interview, since you will know exactly what to expect before you walk through the door!

Although we cannot guarantee you a flight attendant job, our success rate is quite high for those who follow our program.

A recent survey of our members showed that:

95% were invited to an interview.
93% were offered a flight attendant position.
87% were highly satisfied with our program.
96% would recommend our program to a friend or colleague.

We believe that we have one of the best online flight attendant career programs available, but don't take our word for it.

Don't Wait. We Predict That 2008 Will Be A Record Hiring Year!

Our service will help you with the application and interview process at any airline, not just the ones in the US, since the majority of our information is not airline specific.

In addition, not every airline in the US requires that you be a US citizen. For example, Southwest Airlines will accept you if you have the right to work in the US according to the Immigrations Act of 1986. And we currently have members from both the USA and from
many other countries.

Our staff is comprised of a dedicated network of working flight attendants, a talented web development team, and myself, a major airline captain with over 29 years experience in the airline industry.

Several staff members are experienced flight attendant recruiters, supervisors and/or new-hire training instructors. For more about me, visit our blog.

Despite the recent economic downturn, many airlines are still hiring flight attendants. Our 'Who's Hiring' page lists over thirty of them as of today.  And many more will resume hiring in 2008 which we predict will be a record hiring year.

AirlineCareer.com is now recognized by many airlines as the premier site for flight attendant recruiting and many are eager to interview our members for job opportunities, especially those who have earned their Certificate of Achievement.

In addition, we are in constant contact with many hiring departments. United Airlines recently advised us that it will continue hiring flight attendants in 2008, after hiring a record 2,000 flight attendants in 2007 (the first time United hired in over four years!) We have also been contacted by many other airlines, including Northwest, Delta, Continental, Emirates, Alaska and Southwest concerning their hiring plans for the coming year.

We have learned the details of the hiring process at many airlines and are now advising our members on what to expect. Preparation is key in preparing for the application and interview process because those who fail on the first attempt will be required to wait six months to a year before reapplying.

In the coming months, we'll be expanding our research department, providing you with a wealth of database-driven content.

What does this mean for you? Up-to-the-minute hiring information, interview profiles for most major, regional, and commuter airlines, as well as email hiring alerts.

An Opportunity to Earn Your Certificate of Achievement

The Training Center is one of the many features of our Gold program. It is an interactive flight attendant school that will prepare you for new-hire training.

Again, there are no classes to attend. You work at your own pace on your own computer from the comfort of your home or office.

Certificate of Achievement

Through self-study and online testing, this is your chance to earn a Certificate of Achievement from the most trusted name in flight attendant employment.

Upon successful completion of the program, you will be able to print out our exclusive certificate (bearing your name and date of completion).

You will also be able to add course completion information to your resume. Not only will airlines recognize your outstanding achievement, but our program will virtually ensure your success during new-hire training.

To take a practice airport codes test right now, go to: http://www.airlinecareer.com/challenge_descr.htm.

The Training Center currently features:

  • Airport codes tests for all ten major airlines.
  • Tests on the 24-hour clock.
  • Tests on adding and subtracting hours and minutes.
  • Tests on Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
  • Tests on First Aid.
  • PA announcement training.

Upon successful completion of all online tests, a Certificate of Achievement will be available in PDF format for downloading. The personalized certificate will list all subjects covered, is suitable for framing and may be submitted with your resume or presented at your interview.

Our Training Center Certificate will separate you from the competition and will let the airlines know that you are "pre-qualified" and are very serious about pursuing a flight attendant career.

Access to The Training Center is included with every Gold membership at no additional cost.

Many Do Not Make it Through New-Hire Training. Will You?

Approximately 60 percent of new-hires make it through new-hire training and, of those, approximately 50 percent make it through their first year with the company. The high attrition rate is due to a combination of individuals quitting and those that are let go by the company.

The above statistics are industry-wide. Airlines with the highest number of flight attendants have the highest turnover rates.

Since the airlines claim that only 1 out of every 100 applicants is chosen for the flight attendant position, it's easy to see why they're in a hiring mode more often than not.

Another interesting fact is that job satisfaction is quite high for those that make it past the first year.

So why the high turnover rate among new people? We believe it's because the majority of today's applicants know very little about the flight attendant career, basing their desire to work in this industry on myths and stereotypes.

Many apply, but few know what the job is all about. Consequently, many new-hires are dissatisfied with the demands of the job and ultimately quit to pursue other professions. We don't want this to happen to you.

We Even Help Your Decide if a Flight Attendant Career is Right For You!

The last thing you want to do is put the effort into applying for a flight attendant job and attend 4 to 7 weeks of typically unpaid flight attendant training only to discover then that the job doesn't measure up to your expectations.

That's why we designed the Evaluation Center - a tool that helps you thoroughly evaluate the career. There are ten, information-packed sections in total. Cutting-edge web technology makes navigating the Evaluation Center simple; you have one-click random access to virtually any topic.

Here are just some of the subjects covered in detail in the Evaluation Center:

  • What minimum qualifications you must have.
  • How much you can earn.
  • How long and how often you'll have to work.
  • Where you'll have to live.
  • Where you'll be based.
  • What your duties & responsibilities will be.
  • What benefits you'll likely receive.
  • The role of labor unions.
  • Supervisory opportunities.
  • and much, much more.

Note: To see if you qualify to become a flight attendant, take our online pre-qualification test now. It only takes a minute and the results are instant. Go to: http://www.airlinecareer.com/eval.htm.

The Evaluation Center also features numerous Tips and FYI's on getting hired, surviving new-hire training and probation, and keeping the job.

  • An Hours and Minutes Calculator. Once you become a flight attendant, our online Hours and Minutes calculator will help you track your monthly flight hours.

The Application Center Will Show You How to Ace Your Interview!

Now I would like to focus on the heart of our program, the Application Center. Here you will find answers to just about every question you could possibly think of concerning the flight attendant application and interview process.

Here are just a few of the things you will learn in the Application Center:

  • Specific hiring information on each airline. We include hiring status and interview profiles for all major airlines. We provide detailed information on what to expect at each interview, what types of questions you will be asked, how many interviewers there will be, etc.
  • How to Choose an Airline. Picking the wrong airline can sometimes be disastrous. With our help, you will make the right decision on choosing the best airline for you.
  • How to Create a Perfect Resume. Airlines prefer a certain format, and we reveal what that format is. We even provide a template for downloading right into your word processor. Since the resume is already formatted, it's a simple job to paste in your specific information. It's that easy! We also have templates for the all important cover letters and thank-you notes.
  • How to Create on "online resume." Some airlines ask for resumes to be sent via email. It sounds easy, but it isn't. If you just paste your resume from your word processor into an email message, it will come across badly formatted and will make you look unprofessional. We tell you how to do it the right way.
  • How to get Through the Interview Process. Every airline has a different interview process. Whether it be a one-on-one, two-on-one or panel interview, we cover the finer points to make your interviewing experience a successful one.
  • How to Answer Any Interview Question. We have over 60 interview questions in our database and it's growing everyday. Our questions are broken down into several sub-categories. We explain the philosophy behind each question and offer a recommended answer as well. Many of our members have told us, following their interviews, that they were not asked one question that was not included in our database.
  • Handling Rejection. As much as we don't like to admit it, now and then, a few of our members are rejected by airlines. This section explains the reasons for rejection and offers twenty-two of the most common reasons for rejection. Many members will read this section before their interviews to make sure they don't make one of these mistakes. This section also discusses re-application and waiting periods.

Don't Ever Think You Are Too Old to Become A Flight Attendant!

We receive emails every day from aspiring flight attendants that think they're too old to pursue this profession. Our answer: "Go for it!"

Airlines are now actively seeking "older" people to fill positions, especially those pursuing second careers. A recent class of 100 new-hires at a major airline had:

  • Seven people between the ages of 40 and 49.
  • Five people between the ages of 50 and 59.
  • One person over 60!

In a recent issue of our e-ZINE, we referenced a USA Today article about the trend in hiring second career flight attendants. That article profiled Evelyn Gregory, a 72-year old grandmother and former bank vice-president that was hired by US Airways Express!

If you're still not convinced that airlines are hiring "older" applicants, just read this email from one of our members:

"I would like to thank you for a great website. I was selected as a new-hire with America West Airlines one week ago! I truly believe that 50% of my success is due to the vast amount of information that I obtained from your site and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am 41 years old and knew that the competition at my interview session would be tough, especially when facing fellow applicants that could be as young as my own children. But after viewing your site, my confidence was restored and it paid off!"

Still Not Convinced? Here Are a Few More Comments From Our Members

Are You Ready for Your Interview?

"If you fail your initial interview, you will have to wait at least six months and sometimes up to a year before an airline will allow you back for a second chance."

I know I have been preaching to you about the value of an AirlineCareer.com membership, but have you really thought about what it is worth?

Consider this: Airline interviewing is a highly competitive business and only those well-prepared will make it past the first interview.

What does this mean to you?

It means that if you fail, you will have to wait at least six months and sometimes up to a year before an airline will allow you back for a second chance. A later date-of-hire and loss of seniority will affect your working conditions throughout your entire career.

Are you ready to make that gamble?

If not, how about some insurance? What would you pay to tilt the odds in your favor? Would you wager $97 to ensure success?

That's what an AirlineCareer.com Gold Membership will cost to ensure a competitive edge in making it through the interview process. And that price is far below what many of our competitors are charging. Some charge hundreds and even thousands of dollars
for the same service we provide at a fraction of the cost!

Our service will provide you with everything necessary to become a flight attendant. Although we cannot guarantee you a position, our success rate is quite high for those that follow our program. Over 90% of our members have been hired by airlines!
