10 Reasons to be a Flight Attendant

Your Flight Attendant Resume

For most airlines, your resume largely determines whether you will be invited to (or back to) an interview. We recommend that each time you contact an airline employment office for the first time, you include a resume (and cover letter) - unless the company has a specific Initial Contact Procedure. This means that even if you are just seeking an application, send a resume along even if the airline does not require one. Then, after completing the application, the resume (and cover letter) should be submitted once again. Basically, any correspondence you send to an airline before the interview should include a cover letter, a resume and, if applicable, an application.

The resume itself may seem simple enough, but most people overlook many of the finer points of resume writing, which can mean the difference between getting an interview and not getting an interview.

Your resume is a statement about you. If it is poorly written with misspellings and/or improper English, this reflects on your professionalism and attention to detail. The resume should be an impeccable piece of work presenting your professional qualities.

Having Your Resume Professionally Written

Each time you submit your resume to an airline, it will be carefully scrutinized against hundreds, if not thousands, of other applicants. Any flaw, inconsistency or slight imperfection on the resume will be grounds for exclusion. After all, the employer has to narrow the field of applicants to a more manageable number.

Many airlines will scan your resume for pertinent information. Sometimes this is done by a human (in about ten to twenty seconds) and sometimes by machine. This is why we recommend that your resume be only one page. Anything more may cause your resume to be improperly scanned or in the worst case even discarded. Our professional resume writers understand the essentials of creating a ‘scanner friendly’ resume and are experts at fitting all of your qualifications on one page, without leaving out important data.

Imagine yourself as the airline employer – typically receiving 600 resumes from 600 qualified applicants in one day. Now what? Obviously you do not have the time or resources to call in 600 people for an interview. A resume is a textual representation of the applicant. That's why you cull the applicant list by closely examining each resume. This begs the question - is your resume as good or better than the other 599? If not, you could be turned down for the job or not invited to an interview at all. With most airlines requiring a six-month or one year waiting period after being turned down for the job, a bad resume could cost you thousands of dollars in lost wages along with a considerable loss in seniority.

Why?

One reason is there is no such thing as a standard resume format. A quality resume will fit the person’s talents like a well-tailored suit. Your job skills and employment background will determine which format we use.

Another reason to have your resume professionally prepared is that the “look” of your resume is the first image of you the employer sees. Don’t let it be the last! A resume from us will stand out above the rest because we know that every single word on your resume is important.

We will take the information you send us and use that as a base to build your new resume. Then we will use words, phrases and syntax to mold and shape your new resume into a format which will highlight your strengths and get you an interview with your future employer. We do not use resume templates – each resume is individually crafted with more than 50 years of resume writing experience going into each and every resume.
